Fundacion Milarepa, Crisis and Violence in Chile

Declaracion SCAC Fundacion Milarepa ENG 21.10.19

The Milarepa Foundation of Chile, board members, and members of the Laudato Si’ Group have been deeply affected by the violence, protests, and the presence of soldiers on the streets of Santiago. The national crisis started with a social discontent because of Metro fares but escalated to social disruption and the destruction, burning and looting of properties. An emergency situation has been declared with night curfews. The building of the Fundacion has not been affected; however, we started quickly to gather momentum and to dedicate work towards dialogue and the principles of a shared humanity. The Milarepa Foundation signed a public declaration together with other NGOs and we ask all our associates to make this Declaration known in your own countries.
